Lower back joint disruption also causes sciatica as the sciatic nerve is created by the lower joints. If these joints fail to move freely then the nerve at its source becomes irritated.

The best way to ease tension off the Piriformis muscle is to both stretch the muscle and to use Acupressure to reduce overall muscle tension. Stretching the muscle involves you lying on your back and pulling your knee towards your opposite shoulder. This stretches the Piriformis muscle; if you don't feel tightness in your buttock then you need to use a different stretch.

Piriformis tightness is a common cause as the sciatic nerve either runs through the muscle or next to it. If the muscle tightens the sciatica nerve becomes irritated and sciatica occurs.

Strengthen Muscles - If one muscle is tight and the others are weak, there is going to be an imbalance. You can do some exercises at home that will help to strengthen and improve their strength, and this in turn will increase the blood supply, which is why they are weak to begin with.

Assess Your Spine - You need to know the problem is coming from to be able to get rid of it permanently. To use these techniques properly, you need to know where to place your focus.

Treatment for Sciatica:Tip D. D. Move - You need to keep moving, not too fast, but move. If you sit for to long at a time, your muscles will tighten much quicker. Have you ever noticed that your pain is worse in the morning after sleeping all night? When you are able to move, this helps your pain ease a little. This is why moving is an important treatment for sciatica.

The most common causes of sciatica are: pelvic imbalance, Piriformis muscle tightness, and lower back joint disruption. Pelvic imbalance causes the Sacro-Iliac joints to tighten which then allows the muscles in the buttock to go into spasm, leading to sciatica.

Release Muscle Tension - There is a muscle called the Piriformis muscle. This muscle is usually the culprit when it comes to your pain. The sciatic nerve runs through this muscle and if it is tight, it will irritate the nerve and therefore, pain.

I am not going to lay claim to any cures for sciatica, but I will give you some guidelines to follow in helping to relieve your pain and hopefully stop it from returning. So for now let's call them cures for sciatica, for if they can give you some relief from pain and minimise the episodes, then it is in its own way, a cure.

A. Ice - In the first 48 hours, you need to use ice to help reduce the inflammation which is around the nerve. This can help to stop it from getting worse. Use the ice for 10 minutes, then off for 10 and on again for 10 minutes. Keep doing this 2 or 3 times.

Finding a cure for Sciatica is a challenge, have you searched without finding anything? Maybe you have and have decided to give up, but are still hoping to find some relief for the pain.

The second stretch is to do the same as above but hold your ankle over your opposite knee with one hand and then use the other hand to pull your knee towards that opposite shoulder. This will create a greater stretch.

*So here you have it, your cures for sciatica, but it does not come from a bottle, but you! In your own home exercising on your living room floor. Treatment for Sciatica:Tip A.

Piriformis Syndrome: Simply put this is pain caused by the Piriformis muscle that may be in spasm, inflamed, or irritated. Located in you buttock and laying right on top of the sciatic nerve as it exits the spine down your leg. When this muscle is inflamed, irritated or in spasm it will cause pressure on the sciatic nerve causing the sciatica like symptoms.

Align the Pelvis - Your pelvis is the foundation, the stabiliser and when this is distorted, there can be a lot of lower back pain. Lower Back Strength - It is not going to help to work on the nerve if you have a weak back. Strengthen your back and you will help the pelvis get back into alignment and release the tension.

Being extremely uncommon in younger patients sciatica can still affect most anyone. Most people who suffer from sciatica are in the age range of thirty to fifty. Most often back injury or over exerting the back will bring on a sudden onset of sciatica.

So... To stop your sciatica now you need to address the Piriformis muscle tightness and the lower joint issues. The pelvic imbalance needs correcting but this helps to stop your sciatica returning mainly, although it will also reduce your pain quickly.

Treatment for Sciatica:Tip C. C. Pelvic Balance - This is a great treatment for sciatica because the pelvis is what keeps everything in balance. If your pelvis is balanced, then the tension will ease off all the other areas. You can do this by lying down on the floor. Place your hand under each side of your pelvis where you would wear your belt. As you are doing this, notice if there is more pressure on one side or the other. If here is more pressure on one side compared to the other, then your pelvis is not balanced.

This is only a temporary fix for your back pain and sciatica, you still need to rebalance your pelvis (the most common cause of back pain), strengthen weak muscles, reduce muscle tension and correct all the joints not working correctly.

SCIATICA is pain caused by general compression and/or irritation of one of five nerve roots that are branches of the sciatic nerve, and represents one of the most common forms of radiculopathy. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body. For some people, the pain from sciatica can be severe and debilitating. For others, the pain might be infrequent and irritating, but has the potential to get worse. Treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms will often be different, depending upon the underlying cause of the symptoms. At CHARAKA, we are specialized in treating Sciatica with highest treatment success rate. We offer excellent Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapies along with researched internal medicines for treating Sciatica. The strength of Ayurveda in the area of spine and joint treatments is globally appreciated. Since it addresses the root cause of the issue the results are fantastic. *Let pain be your guide. If you are in pain, you listen to your body and stop. Do not ever let anyone tell you to push through the pain. You are the only one who knows your pain threshold.

Sciatica is the Latin word for "Pain down the back of the leg" Sciatica is referred pain usually caused by trapping the sciatic nerve in the lower back.

You do not need to rub or press hard - just like jumper cabling a battery - you are just making a connection from one point to the next. And it is as simple as that...

The Acupressure technique is even simpler... A simple Acupressure point to reduce muscle tension is on the back of your knee. Just come in from the outside of your knee where your hamstring tendon is, the depression there is an Acupressure point for muscular tension. Simply hold this point on both knees at once and rest your hands there for at least 5 minutes. The longer you hold the point the more the tension will reduce.

So you have been diagnosed with sciatica and even though your doctor explained to you about the condition, you have come looking for a bit more information on sciatica.

Lumbar Facet Joint Syndrome: The pain coming from the joints in your back with this particular symptom can cause Sciatica like symptoms along with pain and discomfort. Just like the knee and elbow can get inflamed and cause pain, the facet joint is like any other joint in your body and follows these same rules.

To help joints move more freely is just as simple, all you need to do is to press gently but firmly on the joint that is sore. You will notice if you press in some directions the pain feels a little worse - like a bruise. If you pres in this direction while you breathe in and out, your body will actually correct the joint and ease the tension around it.

Lets start with the basic question on most peoples mind, what is sciatica? The general term used for pain being felt along the sciatic nerve is sciatica. This pain is usually described by patients as a sharp electric shocking type pain that starts in the buttocks and travels down the back of the thigh and leg. Most often caused by a herniated disk, there are also other causes. When diagnosing sciatica symptoms a MRI scan is most often taken to help with this process. If your MRI shows a herniated disk make sure to get referred to a spine specialist. A spine specialist can look over your X-rays and be able to recommend the proper course of treatment.

Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: This is the narrowing of the spinal canal causing sciatica type symptoms. Disk problems and arthritis of the spine can cause this narrowing.

In fact the majority of sciatica is simply fixed. Although disc injuries cause sciatica they are not the majority of sciatica cases. They only attribute approximately 10% of sciatica problems.

Some signs and symptoms of sciatica are: A cramping sensation of the thigh Shooting pains from the buttock, down the leg Tingling, or pins-and-needles sensations in the legs and thighs A burning sensation in the thigh Maneuvers such as squatting, coughing or sneezing worsen the sciatica symptoms that the patient is having. The cause of the worsened sciatica symptoms is the jerking motion adding pressure that is being placed around the nerve. I mentioned earlier that sciatica is not always caused by a herniated or slipped disk. Some other causes of Sciatica could be:

Sacroiliitis: The joint where your hip meets your spine is called the sacroiliac joint. When your sacroiliac joint becomes inflamed it is known as sacroiliitis. Sciatica type syndromes can be felt due to inflammation caused by arthritis or traumatic injury. Anesthetic injections or anti-inflammatory medications can take away the pain.

Iliolumbar Syndrome: This is simply inflammation or a tear of the ililumbar ligament. This is the back of your pelvis and it extends from the spine to the iliac crest.

Treatment for Sciatica:Tip B. B. Stretching - You have a muscle called the Piriformis muscle. This muscle has the sciatic nerve running through it or along side it. By stretching this muscle you are able to ease the pain quickly.

Do seek professional help if you are in anyway concerned about your back pain.
